Apart from these two, there will also be a 5K charity run in which about 60 visually impaired students as well as HIV infected children will take part. All registration proceeds for the 5K Charity Run will be going towards charity in its entirety, the organisers said.

Former Indian athlete Reeth Abraham said this event unearth lot of new runners. "The organisers have taken extreme attention to detail to ensure seamless execution of the event. It is not an easy feat to pull off such big numbers in the first edition itself and to do so with support from all concerned officials and governing bodies only reiterates just how well-prepared the team is for the execution of this event. I believe this event will give a lot of new runners their first-step into a healthier life," she said at the launch event on Thursday (July 9).

"This event has been launched with a view of introducing non-runners to a lifestyle beneficial to their health. The idea is to join in and be part of an event which celebrates running and makes it easy for you to adopt it and conquer distances with a lot of fun and frolic along the way. It's not just a run, it is an experience," TimTim Sharma, the Brand Ambassador for Bengaluru 10K Challenge, said.

Race Director, Nagaraj Adiga said, "This event is a first step towards our Bengaluru Marathon. We expect this to be a dry-run, with a shorter distance but stringent control on route and extreme caution to the race experience provided to runners. And we will ensure that each participant comes back to this event year upon year as it gets bigger and tougher. I would like to express my gratitude towards all those officials and parties concerned that have made this event possible."
