India-Armenia to lock horn in friendship match on Nov 30

New Delhi, Nov 11 (UNI) Headed by World Junior Champion GM Abhijeet Gupta, World U-16 Champion B Adhiban and latest Grandmaster S Arun Prasad, the Indian team will lock horns with Armenia in a friendship match to be held here from November 30 to December 2.

Funded by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, New Delhi and organised by Delhi Chess Association, this is for the first time ever that such a test series is being held in India.

Facing the Armenian men team who are the reigning Olympiad chess champions, this is expected that such matches would prove to be very helpful for the Indian players.

The match will be a three-match series, a team event featuring U-21 players where each team will consist of four players and one reserve.

The games will be played on four boards. At the end of each day, the winning team will get two points, losing team gets zero points and in case of draw one point will be added to each team.

However, the team with maximum points after the third match will be the winner. If the match score is equal after the third match, then the result of the test series will be declared as draw.

Timing of the entire game will be 90 minutes with an increment of 30 seconds per move from first move onwards.

The Armenian team is expected to arrive here on November 28.
