India assured of 3 more medals in Commonwealth Men's Boxing

New Delhi, July 27 (UNI) Indian pugilists are assured of three more medals in the Commonwealth Senior Men's Boxing Championships at Liverpool, with Naoba Singh, Sunil and Rakesh Kalaskar entering the finals in their respective categories.

T Naoba Singh defeated MZ Azizi of Malaysia on points 26-18 in the 48 kg semi-final. He now meets P Barnes of Northern Ireland in the final.

Sunil scored a victory over KAM Abdullah of Malaysia by RSC (OS) 21-0 to meet P Butler of England in the 51 kg final.

Rakesh Kalaskar secured a narrow victory over PC Mttagwa of Tanzania on points 22-20 in the 60 kg semi-final. He now meets T Stalker of England in the final.

Indian boxers had won six bronze medals so far in the championship participated by 15-countries, according to information received here today.

The finals will be held tomorrow.

Results: 48 kg: T Naoba Singh beat MZ Azizi (Malaysia) on pts 26-18 51 kg: Sunil beat KAM Abdullah (Malaysia) by RSC(OS) 21-0 60 kg: Rakesh Kalaskar beat PC Mttagwa (Tanzania) on pts 22-20 Broze medal winners: 54 kgs: S Santhosh Singh lost to L Boyd (Australia) in the semi-finals on pts 22-17 64 Kg: Dilbagh Singh lost to T Kidd (Australia) in semi-final 75 kg: Manjeet Singh lost to E Okane (N. Ireland) on pts 7-32 in semi-final.

81 kg: Pramoj Kumar lost to M Corbett (Australia) by RSC injury in semi-final although score was 3-3 when bout was stopped.

91 kg: Pradeep Kumar lost to David Price (England) by RSC in semi-final.

+91 kg: Baljeet Singh lost to D Price (England) by retirement in semi-final.
