India-Bangla match sold out
Montego Bay, Mar 12 (UNI) Amid reports of last minute completion of hosting venues, local organisers say India's World Cup campaign opener against Bangladesh in Port of Spain, Trinidad, has been sold out.
The Group B match at the Queen's Oval Park on March 17 will see a capacity crowd mainly due to Bangladesh's surprise win over New Zealand in their warm-up match on March 6.
Chief Executive Officer of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Anand Daniels, said the high profile match between India and Sri Lanka was also sold out.
''Other four matches of the group are now 70 percent sold out and expectations are that all the matches will be played before capacity crowds,'' Daniels said.
Group B comprises India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bermuda and all the matches will be played at Queen's Oval Park in Port of Spain.
Local media had reported that the Oval was struggling to be completed in time for the staging of the group matches, but Daniels said he was confident of the matches being staged smoothly.
Daniels admitted facing minor difficulties but said work on the stands was completed and the pitch has been tried and tested.
