Asian Senior Weightlifting Championships Day 4: India Secure Bronze With Ajith Narayana In 71 Kg

India added two more medals at the 2026 AWF Asian Senior Weightlifting Championships in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Ajith Narayana won bronze in the men’s 71 kg Clean & Jerk. Ajith Narayana also secured bronze in the overall total on Day 4. Ajith Narayana finished with a 314 kg combined lift.

Ajith Narayana’s total included 174 kg in the Clean & Jerk. Ajith Narayana stayed composed against leading lifters from across Asia. Won Ju Ri (PRK) took gold with a 351 kg total. Jian Chen (CHN) claimed silver after lifting 335 kg overall.

India earns bronze on Day 4 at 2026 AWF Asian Seniors

The men’s 71 kg contest was the first final completed on Day 4. Officials said results from other weight classes were expected soon. The medal winners across snatch, Clean & Jerk, and total are listed below. Ajith Narayana led India’s finish in the category.

Organisers said the 2026 AWF Asian Senior Weightlifting Championships followed international event standards. Several leading Asian lifters were in medal contention. Ajith Narayana’s podium finish strengthened India’s showing at the meet. The outcome also underlined India’s progress on the continental stage.

The President of the Indian Weightlifting Federation congratulated Ajith Narayana for the Day 4 result. The federation also extended best wishes to the Indian contingent. More Indian lifters were scheduled to compete as Day 4 continued. The championships in Gandhinagar ran from 10th to 17th May 2026.
