India recently showcased its equestrian prowess at the AEF Cup CSIY-B in Bangalore, with riders Surya Aditya and Avik Bhatia clinching silver and bronze medals in the overall standings.
The event, which marked its return to India after a 14-year hiatus, witnessed top competitors from 11 countries. It was hosted at the state-of-the-art Surge Stable from October 11 to 13, spotlighting the nation's emerging talent in equestrian sports.

Surya Aditya's consistent performance throughout the competition earned him the overall silver medal, building on his earlier success in Round 1.
Avik Bhatia, only 16, showcased remarkable resilience by bouncing back from an 8th place finish in Round 1 to secure silver in Round 2, and ultimately, the overall bronze.
Despite a faster clean jumping run than Iran's Yazdan Mollaafzal, penalties for touching obstacles during his jump-off affected Bhatia's final score.
Col. Jaiveer Singh, Secretary of the Equestrian Federation of India, lauded the achievements, stating, "This double podium finish is great news for Indian equestrians. Both Surya Aditya and Avik Bhatia demonstrated exceptional determination and skill while competing against top international and experienced riders.
"Their achievements reflect the promising future of Indian equestrian sports, and we are confident that they will continue to excel with bold and technically sound performances." This commendation underlines the significant strides being made in the sport within India.
The competition's second day was a nail-biter, with Avik initially leading the jumping event. However, Yazdan Mollaafzal from Iran secured the gold with a flawless, penalty-free performance in the jump-off, completing it in 60.32 seconds.
The podium for Round 2 also featured Cambodian rider Menglong Rinda, who finished with 4 penalty points in 79.58 seconds.
The event saw 12 riders commence the competition, with 11 making it to Round 2 after Kuwait's Madhy A A H Alkhamis withdrew. The contest was marked by challenges, including eliminations over the two days for riders from Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Chinese Taipei — Muhammad Khan Niazi, Taisiya Lokteva, and Asato Amami — due to incomplete rounds.
Riders from Hong Kong and Thailand, Fabiola Chong and Papungkorn Pabbamnam, secured the fifth and sixth places, respectively, in the overall standings. They were closely followed by competitors from Myanmar and Malaysia, Kyaw Wana Aung and Muhammad Nazirul Amsyar, showcasing the depth of talent from across the region.
The AEF Cup CSIY-B's successful conduct in Bangalore not only spotlights India's capacity to host international equestrian events but also emphasizes the growing interest and investment in the sport across the country.
With Surya Aditya and Avik Bhatia's podium finishes, the future of Indian equestrian sports looks bright, promising further achievements on the international stage.
