India clinches first gold at Asian Athletic Championships

Pune, July 5: Vikas Gowda, ace discuss thrower clinched the first gold medal for India as the home team won three medals on the second day to make their presence in the 20th Asian Athletic Championships on Thursday.

Gowda threw the iron disc at a mark of 64.90m in his fourth attempt to win his first gold of the Asian Championships and with this win he also booked a berth in upcoming World's Championships in Mascow next month. He had also won silver each in the 2005 and 2011 edition.
