India at Commonwealth Games 2026, July 28: Athletics, Boxing, Weightlifting and Full Schedule

India will look to add to its growing medal tally at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Tuesday, July 28, with Asian champion Gulveer Singh leading the athletics challenge and five boxers competing for guaranteed medals in Glasgow.

Weightlifting, one of India's strongest disciplines at these Games, also returns to the spotlight with Birmingham 2022 bronze medallist Harjinder Kaur and Nirupama Devi Seram in medal action.

Gulveer Singh headlines athletics campaign

The biggest attraction of the day will be the men's 10,000m final, where national record holder and reigning Asian champion Gulveer Singh will chase his maiden Commonwealth Games medal.

India will also have representation in the women's high jump final through Pooja Singh.

Earlier in the day, Rajesh Ramesh and Vishal TK begin their men's 400m campaigns in the opening-round heats.

Five Indian boxers one win away from medals

India's boxing contingent has an opportunity to guarantee at least five more medals, with all quarter-final winners assured of a podium finish.

The Indian boxers in action are:

• Priya Ghanghas (Women's 60kg)
• Parveen Hooda (Women's 65kg)
• Jadumani Singh Mandengbam (Men's 55kg)
• Kapil Pokhariya (Men's 90kg)

Weightlifters look to continue medal surge

India's weightlifters have been among the standout performers in Glasgow and will look to continue that momentum on Tuesday.

Nirupama Devi Seram competes in the women's 63kg final, while Harjinder Kaur, who won bronze at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, will contest the women's 69kg final.

India's weightlifting campaign has already produced medals through Mirabai Chanu, Rishikanta Singh, Raja Muthupandi, Gyaneshwari Yadav, Valluri Ajaya Babu and Bindyarani Devi.

Swimming and para swimming

Olympian Sajan Prakash begins his men's 50m butterfly campaign in the heats and could return later for the semi-finals if he qualifies.

Srihari Nataraj also starts his men's 100m backstroke campaign with hopes of progressing to the semi-finals.

In para swimming, Ravi Veera Venkata Bhavani Karthik Budigna and Imam Ali compete in the men's S13 50m freestyle, with both aiming to qualify for the medal race later in the evening.

Bowls action continues

India's lawn bowls campaign continues with Navneet Singh and Dinesh Kumar competing in the men's pairs sectional play, while Nayanmoni Saikia returns to action in the women's singles.
