India finish last, England third in Quadrangular tourney
Chennai, Mar 5 (UNI) Thanks to a brilliant unbeaten knock of 77 by Claire Taylor and her 67-run stand with Claire Taylor, England pushed hosts India to fourth position defeating the latter by six wickets to finish third in the quadrangular tournament here today.
At the IIT Chemplast ground chasing a target of 220 after restricting India eves, to 219 in 49.2 overs, England made 220 losing four wickets in 46.2 overs with Claire hitting 77 off 98 balls wit nine forus and Lydia remaining unbeaten on 32 off 38 ablls with four fours.
England were off to a good start with an 83- run stand in 98 balls between Srah Taylor (52, 54 balls, six fours) and Jenny Glynn (39, 68 balls, two fours).
As the Indian bowlers struggled to gain breakthroughs, the English eves, who had not won any match in the two leg Round Robin league, progressed with a 46-run stand for the second wicket between Sarah and Claire.
