India-Korea pre Olympic match amidst tight security

Chennai, Feb 17 (UNI) Amidst tight security arrangements, India will take on Korea in the Pre Olympic women's football second round qualifiers at the Nehru stadium here on February 25, the Tamil Nadu Football Association (TNFA) said today.

In a press release here after a meeting of the organising committee at the stadium, All India Football Federation (AIFF) Vice President and TNFA President said the security aspects, ground conditions and the facilities at the stadium were reviewed.

He announced that there would be no gates for the match and appealed to youth especially girls from various schools, colleges and sports hostels to come and witness the match.

He said the Korean team would arrive here on February 21 and added the officials, including Mrs Huijiun Niu (Referee), Mrs Hongjuan Liu (Asst Referee1), Mrs Hongjue (Asst Referee 2), Mrs Hong Li (Fourth official), all from China, would be officiating in the match.

Mrs Thanh Ha Nguyen from Vietnam would be the match commissioner.

Nike balls would be used for the match, he added.

Chennai had last hosted an international women's football tournament at this stadium in the late 90s, it may be recalled.
