India lab will get WADA accreditation by next week: Randhir Singh

New Delhi, Sep 12 (UNI) India's long wait for a dope testing laboratory will be over by next week as the World-Anti Doping Agency (WADA) is likely to grant its approval at its Executive Committee meeting.

Disclosing this here today IOA General Secretary Randhir Singh said ''WADA executive committee meeting is scheduled to be held in Montreal on September 20 where our dope lab will get the accreditation.'' Earlier, taking part at the India Sports Marketing Forum seminar along with All India Tennis Federation secretary Anil Khanna and Athletics Federation of India secretary Lalit Bhanot, he urged the corporate house to come forward to help the Indian sports.

''Big business houses only talk about promoting sports haven't done much,'' said Randhir, who is also the vice-chairman of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

He also hoped that a successful organising of the Commonwealth Games will support India's bid for the 2020 Olympics. ''But for that we also have to win medals.'' However, Lalit Bhanot expressed satisfaction with the government's decesion to allocate Rs 700 crore for athletes' training for the 2010 Games, and said, ''We are on the right track.'' Lalit Bhanot, who is also secretary-general of the Commonwealth Games said ''The 2010 Games is going to boost the country's sporting scenario.'' Anil Khanna was of the view that other sports can learn lot from the Indian Premier League.
