India's World cup qualifying match on tomorrow

By Staff

Panaji, Oct 29: The Indian and the Lebanese team will arrive in Goa today for the qualifying match of World Cup 2010 to be played at Nehru stadium Fatorda in Margao tomorrow.

Goa Football Association Secretary Savio Messias said that the match was earlier scheduled to be played in Chennai on Sunday, October 28, but the inclement weather due to deep depression in Chennai led to the postponement of the match and a change in venue.

Messias said that the All India Football Federation (AIFF) had asked the Goa Football Association to host the match tomorrow.

After the arrival of both the teams, the Indian team will have a practice session at Cuncolim Ground and the Lebanese team will practice at Varca Ground in south Goa.

Messias further said that Manchester United Soccer School (MUSS) officials were kind enough to postpone the football trials by one day in order to accommodate the prestigious match.

The international match comes to Goa almost by default after a gap of two years.
