After a disappointing day 12 of the competition at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024, India will hope for a better outing on day 13 of the 33rd edition of the Summer Olympic Games as they push for a double digit finish in the medal table.
India’s medal tally at the ongoing Paris 2024 may see a slight on Thursday, August 8 with several athletes and teams from the country set to compete in final and medal rounds.

India has so far added three bronze medals to their Olympics 2024 medal tally. All the three medals have come in shooting with Manu Bhaker alone contributing to two of them in pistol events.
Bhaker won an individual bronze in women's 10m air pistol event to open India's account at the Paris Olympic Games, and later doubled her tally with a bronze in 10m air pistol mixed team event alongside Sarabjot Singh.
The third medal was clinched by Swapnil Kushare, who won the copper metal in the men's 10m air rifle event. Several others have also missed out on a medal by fine margins, including weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, shuttler Lakshya Sen, mixed archery team, shooter Arjun Babuta and Bhaker, who missed out on a third medal.
However, the disappointment over the last few days is likely to turn into joy when the Golden Boy of the country, the men’s hockey team and wrestlers compete in their respective events on August 8.
Here is a look at the Indian athletes competing in medal rounds or finals, and how the medal table may look after day 13 of the competition at the Paris 2024 Olympics:
India could end day 13 of the competition at Paris Olympics with four medals as medal winners from Tokyo 2020 will be in action in medal rounds, while a couple of wrestlers will begin their elimination rounds campaign with a chance of assuring a medal.
Neeraj Chopra: India's gold medal hope Neeraj Chopra is backed to win a second successive yellow metal at the Olympic Games following on from his historic achievement at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics when he clinched the title with a 87.58m throw. Chopra's final event starts at 11:55 PM IST.
Indian men's hockey team: The men's hockey team are also favourites to win a second successive bronze medal when they face Spain in the third-place playoff match which starts at 5:30 PM IST. India would have hoped for an upgrade on the colour, but will now aim to not leave Paris empty handed.
Aman Sehrawat: The Indian wrestler could also be in medal contention and also guarantee himself a medal if he manages to reach the final. Aman, who makes his Olympic debut, will begin his campaign against Vladimir Egorov of Macedonia in the men's 57kg freestyle round of 16 with the bout scheduled to start after 3 PM IST.
Anshu Malik: Like her compatriot, Anshu Malik will be in round of 16 action in the women's 57kg category from 3 PM IST, opening her campaign against USA's Helen Maroulis. The young grappler will hope for a better outing in Paris compared to her Olympic debut in Tokyo.
In wrestling, the semi-final winner is guaranteed at least a silver medal. The semi-final loser also gets a chance to fight for bronze, a contest which even the wrestler who lost in the earlier rounds can also compete if the opponent that defeated them in round of 16 and quarterfinal reaches the gold medal round.
Apart from the four medal hopes, hurdler Jyothi Yarraji also has a chance of qualify for the women's 100m hurdle next stage via the repechage after failing to book a semi-final berth during the first round heats. Her repechage heats is scheduled to start at 2:09 PM IST.
Golfers Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar also will look to carry forward their good start in the women's individual stroke play event opening day into round 2. They will tee off from 12:30 PM IST.
