India's Medal Tally at Olympics 2024 on August 7: Avinash Sable to Mirabai Chanu - How Many Medals Can India Win Today?

India's medal tally at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 is likely to slightly swell today (Wednesday, August 7) with several athletes and sports personalities from the country set to compete in final and medal rounds.

India has so far added three bronze to their Olympics 2024 medal tally. All the three medals have come from shooting with Manu Bhaker alone contributing to two of them in pistol events.

Bhaker won an individual bronze in women's 10m air pistol event to open India's account at the Paris Olympic Games, and later doubled her tally with a bronze in 10m air pistol mixed team event alongside Sarabjot Singh.

The third medal was clinched by Swapnil Kushare, who won the copper metal in the men's 10m air rifle event. Several others have also missed out on a medal by fine margins, including shuttler Lakshya Sen, mixed archery team, shooter Arjun Babuta and Bhaker also missed out on a third medal.

However, the disappointment over the last few days is likely to turn into joy when the solitary weightlifter, track & field athletes and wrestlers compete in their respective events on Wednesday, August 7.

India could end day 12 of the competition at Paris Olympics with at least three medals in wrestling, weightlifting and athletics as Mirabai Chanu and Antim Panghal make first appearance in Paris, while Avinash Sable competes in final.

Who are the Indians likely to win medal at Paris Olympics on August 7?

Mirabai Chanu: The Tokyo 2020 silver medallist weightlifter Chanu will be eyeing for gold in the women's 49kg category. She will compete in the final at 11 PM IST on August 7 with Tokyo 2020 gold winner and record-holder Hou Zhihui of China likely to be the main competitor for a yellow metal.

Avinash Sable: The Asian Games champion steeplechaser, who owns the national record, created history by becoming the first India to qualify for the men's 3000m steeplechase event in Olympics.

The 29-year-old led for most part of his qualifying round, and clinched the final berth after he finished fifth in his heat with a timing of 8:15.43 minutes to and qualified among the top 15 in the event.

Antim Panghal: The young wrestler can seal a medal for India if she qualifies for the final in the women's 53kg category. She will open her campaign today with the quarterfinal and semi-final also being lined up for later in the night.

Apart from aforementioned quartet, race walkers Priyanka Goswami and Suraj Panwar will be in medal round when the pair compete in the marathon race walking mixed relay event. Plus, several track & field athletes also will be aiming to qualify for their respective medal rounds on August 7.
