It rained medals on Tuesday (September 3) night and continued into Wednesday (September 4) for India at the ongoing Paris Paralympics 2024 as Indian track & field para athletes won a total of six medals, taking the tally to 21, the best-ever haul in Paralympic Games.
With five medals on day 6 of the Paris Paralympic Games, India surpassed their highest medal tally of 19 in the Tokyo edition of the Paralympics three years ago. The Indian contingent added more medals on Wednesday (September 4).

In fact, the Indian contingent won 13 medals for the country in the past two days, jumping the medal tally to a record 20 consisting of three gold, seven silver and 10 bronze medals.
It all started in shooting arena for India on August 30, when Mona Agarwal won the first medal in the form of bronze in women's R2 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event. Moments later, Avani Lekhara won India's first gold in the same event.
Later in the day, Manish Narwal won the first silver medal in the men's P1 10m air pistol SH1 event. Since then, India has managed to win a medal everyday, winning five and eight on September 3 and September 2 respectively.
On September 3, India had two double podium finishes as Ajeet Singh and Sundar Singh Gurjar claimed silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the men's javelin throw F46 event after Sharad Kumar and Mariyappan Thangavelu secured silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the men's high jump T6 event.
Earlier in the day, Deepthi Jeevanji secured a bronze in Women's 400m T20 event, taking the total para athletics medal tally to 10. Sprinter Preethi Pal also won two medals in the Games. The next biggest medal-contributing sports for India is badminton and shooting.
India also won several medals in badminton on September 2 with Nitesh Kumar winning a gold, and Suhas Yathiraj as well as Thulasimathi Murugesan settling for silver each in their respective events.
Also, record-breaker Sumit Antil won the third gold medal for the country with a paralympic record in Men's javelin throw F64. Here is a look at the complete list of Indian medal winners at Paris Paralympics 2024:

With a medal rush in the past two days, India's tally has increased to 20, but they finished 19th in the standings on Tuesday (September 3). China continued to lead the medal table with a total of 115 medals, including 53 gold, 40 silver and 22 bronze.
