Manama, Bahrain – April 20: India wasted no time in stamping its authority at the inaugural edition of the Asian U-15 & U-17 Boxing Championships, delivering two flawless victories on Day 1 that set the tone for what promises to be a knockout campaign.
Stepping into the ring with poise and purpose, Hardik Dahiya and Rudraksh Singh ensured India’s colours flew high as the continent’s newest boxing talent showcase kicked off under the joint patronage of the Olympic Council of Asia and the newly constituted World Boxing body.

With Bahrain playing host, the Indian contingent couldn’t have asked for a better start to the prestigious meet.
In the U-15 boys' 43kg division, it was all about precision, aggression, and control as Hardik Dahiya squared off against Kubanychbek Bolushov of Kyrgyzstan. From the opening bell, Dahiya showcased superior footwork and clinical punching, dictating the pace with clever combinations and smart defence.
By the end of three rounds, there was little doubt about the verdict. The judges returned a unanimous 5-0 decision in favour of the young Indian, whose confident display earned him not just a win, but also plenty of admiration ringside.
India’s momentum only picked up pace in the following bout, as Rudraksh Singh took the ring in the 46kg category against Ibrakhim Maral of Mongolia. Calm and composed, Singh didn’t rush into the contest; instead, he sized up his opponent in the opening seconds before unleashing a flurry of accurate jabs and well-timed counters.
It was a textbook performance — methodical, measured, and masterfully executed. Once again, all five judges awarded the bout to India, marking another 5-0 clean sweep and reinforcing the team’s strong start.
This championship holds historic significance as it marks the first competition officially backed by Asian Boxing, the newly established continental federation. The dual nod from the Olympic Council of Asia and World Boxing elevates the tournament’s stature, bringing together rising stars from across Asia in a bid to unearth the region’s next boxing prodigies.
India’s performance on opening day is not just a showcase of talent, but a statement of intent. With a robust pool of young pugilists and experienced coaching staff, the country looks poised to make a deep impact throughout the tournament.
As the action unfolds in Manama, all eyes will be on India’s contingent to see whether the early fireworks can be sustained. More bouts await in both the U-15 and U-17 brackets, with India expected to field a strong line-up brimming with medal hopes.
One thing is clear — if Day 1 was any indication, India’s young boxers have arrived with fists of fury and hearts of gold. The bell has rung, and the charge has begun.
Let the fight for glory continue.
