India placed in Pool B for Asia Cup

Chennai, July 7 (UNI)India has been placed in a relatively easy Pool B along with Japan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, China and Thailand for the seventh Asia Cup tournament to be held at the Mayor Radhakrishnan astroturf staium here from September 1 to 9 rpt September 1 to 9, Indian Hockey Federation Secretary K Jyothikumaran announced here today.

In a press release he said Korea, Malaysia, China, Singapore and Sri Lanka have been placed in Pool A.

The Asian Hockey Federation has allotted the tournament to India and the IHF in turn decided to host it in Chennai.

The Asia Cup will be taken into consideration for world ranking of teams by the FIH.
