India recover from first match loss to trounce Sri Lanka

Chennai, June 21 (UNI) Putting behind their 1-3 defeat against Iran in the first outing, the new look India team, seasoned spikers blanked Sri Lanka 3-0 in the league phase of the second Asian Central Zone Vollayball championship being played in Islamabad today.

India required 65 minutes to shut out the Lankan challenge to win 25-16,25-17, 25-19, in the largely one sided match, according to information received here.

Libero Sivarajan came up with an extraordinary performance. He caught the Lankan defence napping, enabling setter Ukkrapandian to feed the attackers well. G Pradeep and Sube Singh proved to be the thorns in the shoes of the Lankan spikers with impenetrable blocks.

Captain Srikanth led from the front with his attacks.
