Yuvraj Sandhu, Aditi Ashok Headline India’s 6-Member Golf Squad For Asian Games
India has named a six-member golf squad for the Asian Games. The event will be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Yuvraj Sandhu and Aditi Ashok head the Indian list. Golf events run from September 30 to October 3. The venue is Kasugai Country Club East Course.
The men's trio features Sandhu, Veer Ahlawat and Saptak Talwar. They hold World Nos. 451, 558 and 576 respectively. The women's team lists Aditi Ashok, Diksha Dagar and Pranavi Urs. Aditi is World No. 135 and an LPGA regular. Diksha and Pranavi are World Nos. 221 and 270 respectively. Aditi won individual silver at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou.

The Indian Golf Union, led by Brijinder Singh, announced the entries. Singh said the picks followed the body’s Asian Games selection policy. He stressed they were chosen purely through current World Rankings. "We have got a supremely talented and efficient squad which has someone like Yuvraj Sandhu, who won seven times on the PGTI circuit last year."
Singh highlights LET winners and podium hopes
"Then there are the likes of Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar who have won multiple times on the Ladies European Tour (LET). The entries were decided purely through World Rankings. I am confident that the Indian team will finish on the podium this time," Singh said in a release.
India’s early Asian Games golf medals
India has won three gold and three silver medals in Asian Games golf. The first team gold came at the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi. The winning quartet was Lakshman Singh, Rishi Narain, Amit Luthra and Rajeev Mohta. Lakshman Singh also secured the individual gold medal that year.
Shiv Kapur won individual gold at the 2002 Busan Asian Games. At the 2006 Doha Asian Games, India’s team claimed silver. That squad included Anirban Lahiri, Gaganjeet Bhullar and Joseph Chakola. India earned another team silver at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games. The players were Rashid Khan, Rahul Bajaj, Abhinav Lohan and Abhijit Singh Chadha.
