Sumit Bhyan will look to make an impressive showing in his ONE Championship debut. The 26-year-old Indian faces Matheus Pereira in lightweight MMA action at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium this Friday, 24 November, at ONE Friday Fights 42.
He's worked vigorously for the opportunity to compete for a prestigious promotion like ONE Championship. So, he intends to make his family proud by showcasing his skill set in Bangkok, Thailand.

"I am very excited for this match. I have been preparing for this for a long time. I am very happy. For the past 4 years, I took part in GAMMA (Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts) and finally got this opportunity. My mom and dad are also very happy because their son will represent India on such a big stage," Bhyan said.
Coming from a family of farmers, Bhyan is no stranger to hard work. Now, the man known as "Eagle" is determined to double his stock and make the most of the opportunity in front of him when he meets Pereira later this week.
That said, family remains at the forefront of Bhyan's mind. It's all or nothing for him. He knows that ONE's Friday Fights series provides him with the greatest opportunity to make a better life for his loved ones.
Heavy is the head that wears the crown. But if he can prevail with a debut win in tow, the ramifications for both him and his family become more fortuitous.
"I must win. I don't have a plan-B," Bhyan said. "I come from a very humble family. The responsibility of my family is on my shoulders. I want to win this match by submission."
Bhyan is set to become the 24th Indian MMA athlete to fight in the ONE Championship. He will be fighing Pereira on the undercard of Kaonar vs Lobo this weekend. Here is a look at the full card for ONE Friday Fights 42:
