Lahore, Sep 6: India continued its dominance in the first ever South Asian Swimming and Water Polo Championship, by clinching the top-spot at the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Swimming Pool here.
India having already secured 15 gold in the first two days of the event so far, extended its tally on the third and final day of the event, sweeping all but two golds. It also secured nine silvers in the event.
On the third day of the event, India's Kshipra Mahajan won the gold medal in the 400m women freestyle open category by clocking in four minutes and 47.86 seconds while her compartriot Pooja Ragaave got the silver medal with a timing of 4:48.47 seconds.
Indian swimmers also excelled in the 200m breaststroke open category by grabbing gold medal through Sameeksha Alva with two minutes 35.94 seconds and Madhavi Giri, who won the silver medal with two minutes 38.99 seconds.
In the 100m Breaststroke category India ruled the roost as Jyotsna Pansare bagged the gold with a timing of 1:13.19, while second spot taken by another Indian Kavya Bhandekar clocking 1:14.97.
In 50m Butterfly category India's Arhata Maghavi won the gold with a timimg of 31.09 while her compatriot Vandita Yogesh clocked 32.42 to secured the second spot.
The 50m Freestyle (Open) category also saw India make merry as Lekha Kamath and Parita Atul won the gold and silver medals respectively with a timing of 28.32 and 29.14 respectively.
In the 50m freestyle (open) category, India's Lekha Kanaps picked up gold clocking 28.32, followed by her compatriot Fareeda Atul.
In 50m breaststroke open category Sri Lankan surprised Indian swimmers when she bagged the gold after completing her distance in 36 seconds. India's Monalisa Mondaz had to contend with the silver with 38.01 seconds.
