India Table Tennis Squad: TTFI name 10-member Squad for Asian Games, Commonwealth; Syndrela creates History, Manika among Reserves, Manav & Manush Included
The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) has announced the squads for the men's and women's team for the upcoming Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
The team, comprised of 5 Men's and 5 Women's players, was named on Thursday (June 18). Manav Thakkar is the highest-ranked player in the Indian men's team, while Sreeja Akula is expected to spearhead the women's side. Manika Batra has been left out of the women's team as she is in reserves, while Syndrela Das has been picked for both competitions.

Syndrela, the teenager from Kolkata, has also become the youngest Indian to be part of the Asian Games squad. In the men's category, Manav and Manush have been the force for India in recent times, and both will take the court with high expectations.
In the women's squad, Diya Chitale has been a powerhouse in recent times, while Sreeja Akula is definitely the player with high hopes on her.
In the doubles, Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah are set to team up in Men's Doubles, while Sutirtha Mukherjee may team up with young Syndrela in Women's doubles. Payas Jain and Syndrela, Manav Thakkar and Sreeja Akula can be India's bid in the Mixed Doubles setups.

The Men's team includes Manav Thakkar, Manush Shah, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Harmeet Desai and Payas Jain, while Ankur Bhattacharjee and Ronit Bhanja have been kept as reserves.
The Women's team includes - Sreeja Akula, Yashaswini Ghorpade, Diya Chitale, Syndrela Das, Sutirtha Mukherjee. Swastika Ghosh and Manika Batra are the reserves.

When will the Competitions be Held?
Commonwealth Games
Table tennis has been excluded from the official sports program for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. However, as an alternative, New Delhi is hosting the 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship at the Thyagraj Stadium from July 27 to August 2, featuring over 35 countries.
Asian Games
The Asian Games will take place in Japan's Nagoya, and the Table Tennis competition will be held between August 20 and August 28 at the host city in Japan.
