India tied for 18th place at Eisenhower Trophy

By Staff

New Delhi, Oct 18 (UNI) Despite an under par round by Saurabh Bahuguna, the winner of the LG Coimbatore Open, India failed to make much progress and finished the day tied for 18th place at the Eisenhower Trophy.

With Gagan Verma carding a two over par 74, India's score for the day was one over par and the team total stands at three over par with one round left to be played.

Saurabh Bahuguna had a great start and was three under par f//or the round after 10 holes but a poor finish to his round pulled him back and he finished his day at one under par 71.

On all three days, one member of the team has carded an under par round but they have not managed to combine together to contribute to the team total. Rashid Khan was surprisingly off colour, carding a seven over 79. Rashid has struggled at the Grange Golf Club in both the rounds he has played there shooting a 77 at the same course on the first day.

Scotland raced past the United States to establish a four stroke lead going into the final round. Scotland have a three day total of 21 under par and seem likely to clinch the Eisenhower Trophy this year which happens to be the fiftieth year of the championship.

Scores: 1 Scotland (-21); 2 US (-17); 3 Sweden(-13); 4 New Zealand(-11); 5 Australia(-9); 18 India (+3).
