India to field teams in international Kickboxing events
Chandigarh, Feb 23 (UNI) Indian Association of Kickboxing Organisation today announced that the country would participate in the World Kickboxing Championships to be held in Szeged (Hungary) from May 10 to 13.
The IAKO will also send teams for the World Cup Kickboxing Championships at Belgrade (Serbia) September 14 to 18) and Portugal from November 21 to 25, the organisation's working president S S Harichandan said here today.
The IAKO will also prepare and field Indian team in the Indoor Asian Games in Maccau in October 2007, Harichandan, who was here to conduct a kickboxing camp, said.
As many as 35 coaches from different sports disciplines and physical eduction teachers of Chandigarg attended the clinic organised by the Chandigarh Kickboxing Association.
The IAKO working president said the sport was gaining popularity in the country and the the School Games Federation of India had already included kickboxing in their annual Sports calendar.
