India to leave for SAFF Cup tomorrow

New Delhi, May 30 (UNI) Star striker Baichung Bhutia will lead the Indian team in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup to be played in Maldives and Srilanka from June 3-14.

The team will leave Chennai for Maldives tomorrow.

India is placed in Group A alongwith hosts Maldives, Nepal and Pakistan.

They will play their opening match against Nepal on June 3.

India has been hit hard by injuries with Renedy Singh and NP Pradeep missing the end of the season, while veteran Deepak Mondal has only returned after an eight-month lay off.

The team: Goalkeepers: Subrata Paul, Subhashish Roy Chowdhary.

Defenders: Mahesh Gawli, Gouramangi Singh, Deepak Mondal, N S Manju, Anwar, Sameer Naik.
