India to participate in Pak National Ski Championship

Lahore, Feb 8 (UNI) India will be up against 15 teams -- including Iran and Pakistan -- in the Karakoram Cup 15th National Ski Championship starting February 11 at the 10,000-feet high Naltar Ski Resort, north of Gilgit.

The week-long event will have 100 skiers vying for the 12 medals at stake.

President of Ski Federation of Pakistan Air Marshal Raashid Kalim told reporters that the participants will also include women and children and the teams will practice on February 8 and 9.

The organisers said the Pakistani skiiers will also be travelling to Gulmerg in India after this tournament to prepare for the 2010 Winter Games.
