India’s U-17 boys boxing squad endured a mixed day at the Asian Boxing U17 Championships 2026 in Tashkent, as Lakshay Phogat moved into the final, while four teammates signed off with bronze medals after losing their respective semifinal bouts.

Competing in the 75kg division, Lakshay Phogat outboxed Seungmin Lee of Korea, earning a clear 5:0 unanimous verdict. The result confirmed Lakshay as India’s only finalist in the Asian Boxing U17 Championships 2026, keeping the team’s gold medal hopes alive.

The tightest contest for India came in the 70kg category, where Naman pushed host nation boxer Abduvohid Abdumajidov to a narrow 2:3 result. Despite the loss to the Uzbekistan boxer, Naman’s effort ensured another bronze medal for the Indian contingent.

Earlier in the session, 46kg boxer Narendra Nella lost 0:5 against Uzbekistan’s Abdulloh Nuraliev. In the 50kg class, Yash Yadav went down 1:4 to Mongolia’s Suld Usukhbaatar, while 54kg contender Nivesh Pal suffered a 0:5 defeat to Abdulbosit Yursunboev.
