India win 13 medals, including 2 Golds at Cadet Table Tennis

New Delhi, July 17 (UNI) Indian cadets ruled the roost bagging two Gold, four Silver and seven Bronze at the recently concluded World Junior Circuit's New Zealand Open Table Tennis Championships held at North Shore.

India won both the Gold and Silver medals in the girls' team event where India-A defeated India-B 3-2 in the final.

Top seeded pair of Ankita Das and Sanya Sehgal fetched another Gold when they rallied to defeat Rika Suzuki and Rui Sato of Japan 3-2 (6-11, 12-14, 11-5, 11-9, 11-6) in the final of girls' doubles event.

In the boy's team competition, India-B won the Silver while India-A bagged the Bronze.

In boys' singles, Indian Players Soumyajit Ghosh and Sourav Saha lost in Semi Finals but won Bronze apiece.

The girls' singles saw Medha Maitra winning Silver after losing to Yui Sato 1-3 (11-4, 6-11, 11-13, 3-11). In the semi-final, she defeated compatriot Mallika Bhandarkar who got a Bronze.

In boys' doubles, Soumyajit Ghosh and Nitin won Silver losing to Korean paddlers in three straight games.

To add up to India's medal list, both the eves won two more Bronze in doubles.
