Lucknow, Jan 31 (PTI) India''s Cricket World Cup squad hasmany match-winners and the country can win the tournament forthe second time, former captain Dilip Vengsarkar said today.
"This team has good possibilities of winning the WorldCup and it can repeat the victorious run of the Indian cricketteam in 1983 World Cup," Vengsarkar, who was here toinaugurate a state-level cricket tournament for visuallychallenged, told reporters.
"Team India selected for the World Cup has a number ofplayers who can turn the game on their own," he said whenasked about the World Cup starting on February 19.
Vengsarkar said that though there is no shortage ofcricket talent in Uttar Pradesh, the state lacked basicfacilities.
As far as the basic facilities are concerned, UP ismuch behind Delhi and Mumbai, he said.
He said there was a need to set up a sports university inUP and he was ready to offer help.
Vengsarkar said that free coaching should be made at thisuniversity for boys willing to learn cricket.
