India looses practice match to New Zealand ahead of Champions Trophy

Johannesburg, Sep 21 (ANI): India looses its first warm up match to New Zealand just before the commencement of the Champions Trophy at the Senwes Park, here on Monday.

The Kiwis thrashed India by 103 runs.

New Zealand did well to reach 301 for nine in 50 overs after winning the toss and opting to bat.

Opener Jesse Ryder made 57 off 48 balls while Martin Guptill provided good base by contributing 63 from 79 balls.

At the tail end, Neil Broom scored a quick-fire 66 off 46 giving Kiwis an upper hand.

In the Indian side Yusuf Pathan was the most successful bowler with three wickets for 46 runs.

The Indians were bowled out for 198 in 40.3 overs. Abhishek Nayar was the top scorer with a fighting 41 off 36 balls.

New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori, Shane Bond and Jacob Oram bagged two wickets each. (ANI)
