Indian archers continue miserable run in World Champ in Germany
New Delhi, July 12 (UNI) Indian men and women archers continued their miserable run in the World Outdoor Archery Championship in Leipzig, Germany, as none of them could get past the elimination round in the individual recurve events today.
Among women, young Bombayla Devi was the best of the lot as she reached the third level of the elimination round. She got the better of Foulon Magali of Spain and Karen Scavotto of USA in the first two levels only to lose to top ranked Park Sung-Hyun of Korea in the third.
Chekrovolu Swuro also got past BM Szilvia of Hungary before going down to Elena Tonetta of Italy in the second level.
But, the biggest disappointment was the seasoned Dola Banerjee who lost in the first level to Simona Bancila of Romania.
In men's recurve, none could get past second level. Tarundeep Rai started promisingly outscoring Martin Bulir of Czech Republic but succumbed to top ranked Chang Hwan Lee of Korea in the second level.
Rahul Banerjee met the same fate, beating Shahnazaryan Andranik of Armenia before losing to Chu Sian Cheng of Malaysia. Somai Murmu was no better as he beat Aubert Thomas of France in first level but lost the next to Ha Neul Kim of Australia, according to information received here today.
