Indian athletes all set for world championships in Moscow

Bangalore, Aug 9: The eagerly-awaited IAAF World Championships are set to open in Moscow's historic Luzhniki Stadium on August 10 and will continue until 18 August.

A 15-member team including 8 women for walking, 4X400m relay, discuss throw, triple jump and 3000m steeplechase events will represent India in the world championships and will try their hard to win a medal at the international arena.

US based Vikas Gowda who recently won gold at the Asian Athletic Championship in July will be representing India in the discuss throw.

But the nation will be on their edge to see the team of M R Poovamma, Tintu Luka, Nirmala Sheoran, and Anu Mariam Jose who will be representing India in 4x400m relay, the team had also won gold medal at the recently held Asian Athletic Championship at Pune is likely to do better at Moscow also.

A record of 206 countries have entered 1,974 athletes, who will compete over a period of 9 days at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
