Indian Cheetahs win Shield in Dubai 7s Rugby tourney

Mumbai, Dec 3 (UNI) The Indian Cheetahs, led by Nasser Hussain, had a successful outing in the Dubai 7s International Rugby tournament, winning the Shield with victories over sides from Iran, Pakistan, UAE and Azerbaijan.

The Indian Cheetahs began the tournament going down 50-52 to Atlantic Invitation from South Africa, but their form hit an upsurge from then on and they routed Tehran RFC (Iran) 49-0, before blanking out Lahore RFC (Pakistan) 26-0, a media release stated here today.

In the International Overseas Shield, Indian Cheetahs outplayed Das Island (UAE) 40-0 and the big win came in the final against Baku RFC (Azerbaijan), with the Cheetahs prevailing 26-5, the release added.
