The match took place at the iconic Les Invalides arena, where the Indian team had initially raised hopes for a medal following a strong performance that saw them advance to the quarter-finals.

Expectations were particularly high after Bommadevara’s impressive display in the earlier rounds, which had instilled optimism among fans and experts alike.

However, the quarter-final clash against Turkey, featuring Olympic champion Mete Gazoz along with Berkim Tumer and Abdullah Yildirimis, proved to be a formidable challenge.

The Indian archers struggled to find their rhythm from the outset, losing the first two sets 52-57 and 52-55. This early setback left them trailing by four points and under significant pressure.

In the third set, India showcased their potential with a narrow victory of 55-54, thanks to some crucial mistakes from Turkey’s Tumer, who scored a seven and two nines.

This win rekindled hopes of a potential comeback, but the Turkish team quickly regained their composure. In the decisive fourth set, Turkey’s precision and consistency secured them a 57-54 victory, sealing the match with a 6-2 scoreline in their favor. “Shocking performance from Archery continues for Team India,“ wrote one fan on Twitter.

“... but as usual, our players choked at a big stage, when it mattered the most“ wrote another.

The loss follows another disappointing performance by the Indian women’s archery team, led by Deepika Kumari, who were defeated by the Netherlands with a scoreline of 51-52, 49-54, 48-53.
