Indian Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi has climbed into the top-5 of the FIDE Live Rating standings. This achievement follows his strong performance in the French Team Chess Championship 2024.
With an ELO rating of 2769.7, Arjun has gained 8.7 points and is now the highest-ranked Indian by live rating. He is currently behind Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Fabiano Caruana, and Ian Nepomniachtchi.

Earlier this week, Arjun briefly reached a career-high live rating of 2771.2. He is the first Indian since Vishwanathan Anand to achieve this feat.
Representing Metz Fischer Chess Club, Arjun has won four out of five matches. His victories include wins over P Harikrishna and Germany's Vitaly Kunin. Two more rounds remain in the competition.
Arjun's form has been impressive over the past few months. He finished second in the TePe Sigeman Chess Tournament and joint-fifth in the Sharjah Masters Open Tournament. He also won the Menorca Open in April, edging out GMs Kirill Alekseenko and Maksim Chigaev.
Arjun Erigaisi hails from Warangal, Telangana. The 20-year-old is a notable talent in Indian chess. He was crowned the National Champion in 2022 and was part of the Indian team that won silver in the Men's team event at the 2022 Asian Games.
