By Staff

Bangkok, Jan 31 (UNI) India continued their poor form in the Federation Cup, going down 1-2 to New Zealand in Asia/Oceania Group I tie here today.

Isha Lakhani snatched the lone victory for India as she pipped Sacha Jones 6-7 (7), 6-1, 6-4 in the first tie.

However, the Kiwis rallied to win the next two matches as Sunitha Rao was thrashed 0-6, 6-7 (7) by Marina Erakovic while Leanne Baker and Erakovic defeated Lakhani and Shikha Uberoi 6-2, 6-2 in the doubles.

To compound the miseries of Indian fans, Sania, who is down with a hamstring injury, is likely to miss tomorrow's tie also.

In the other matches, Australia was shocked 1-2 by Indonesia while Uzbekistan downed Thailand 2-1. Taiwan defeated Hong Kong 2-1.
