Shooter Swapnil Kusale’s bronze in men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions event at Paris 2024 Games on Thursday (August 1) took India's Olympics medal tally to 38 - 10 gold, 9 silver and 19 bronze.
Kusale became the first Indian shooter to win a medal in the men's 50m rifle 3P event after finishing in third place with an aggregate of 451.4. He secured India's 3rd medal in the ongoing Paris Olympic Games and all three have come in shooting so far.

Manu Bhaker had won two bronze medals earlier. The 22-year-old first won the copper metal in women’s 10m air pistol event before teaming up with Sarabjot Singh to win the bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.
Kusale’s bronze was the seventh medal in shooting at Olympics for India. In earlier Olympic events, shooting legends Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Abhinav Bindra, Vijay Kumar and Gagan Narang had also won a medal.

As for most medals in a sport, India has won 12 medals in hockey, including the latest bronze in Tokyo 2020. Shooting takes the second spot with respect to golds, but are joint second in terms of total medals won with 7 medals each.
