Indian surfing reached a milestone as the team secured its first-ever quotas for the 2026 Asian Games during the Asian Surfing Championships 2024. Both men and women earned spots based on ranking points accumulated by Indian surfers in the tournament.
Kishore Kumar, who advanced to the semi-finals, narrowly missed out on further advancement but ensured his country earned these crucial quotas.

Mr. Arun Vasu, President of the Surfing Federation of India, expressed his joy at this achievement. He stated, "It's truly heartening to witness this historic day when Indian surfing has secured quotas for the upcoming Asian Games.
"This achievement is a testament to the hard work and determination of our surfers, coaches, and the federation over the years. I am confident that we will also see our surfers competing in the Olympics in the future.
"While it would have been the icing on the cake if Kishore had made it to the finals today, we are still incredibly proud of him, considering his age, talent, and unwavering determination."
Kishore Kumar showcased his skills against some of Asia's top surfers in the U-18 Boys category. Despite finishing third in Heat 2 semi-final with a score of 8.26, he was just behind Chengzheng Wang of China who scored 10.00.
Japanese surfer Taro Takai took first place with a score of 14.50. Kishore had previously excelled by finishing first in Round 1, Round 3, and the Quarterfinals.
