Indian women finish 4th in Asian Weightlifting championship
New Delhi, Apr 28 (UNI) Indian lifters marked their return to international stage after serving one year bans with the women from the country finishing a creditable fourth in the 19th Asian Weightlifting Championships at the Tai'an city of China.
With six bronze medals and 261 points, Indian eves are behind China (585 points), Vietnam (529) and Thailand (500).
Renu Bala (58 kg), Soma Rani (63 kg) and Geeta Rani (+75 kg) won two bronze each while Sanamacha Chanu finished fifth in 53 kg category.
In the 38th Men's Asian Weightlifting Championships which was held simultaneously, the lone Indian in the fray, Sarabjit Singh was placed eighth with an overall lift of 359 kg in the +105 class.
The gold in the event was won by Sun Haibo of China with a lift of 431 kg.
