India stripped Pak of its WC hosting rights: Mani

By Super Admin

Abu Dhabi, May 4: Former International Cricket Council (ICC) president Ehsan Mani has accused India of being involved in the decision to shift World Cup 2011out of Pakistan and therefore further isolating it from the international cricket scene.

"The decision to move the World Cup out of Pakistan was ill-conceived and taken in haste and I am afraid to say that India has a big hand in this (decision)," said Ehsan Mani, former president of the ICC.

Pakistan striped Pakistan of the hosting rights citing 'uncertain security situation' after the Mar 3 Lahore attacks on Sri Lankan Cricket Team.

Mani said, " "From what I have heard, seen and spoken to PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) and number of other people, it wasn't on the agenda at all in the meeting, the issue on the agenda was security situation in Pakistan after attacks on the Sri Lankan team."

He added that if the ICC decision was genuine it should have properly discussed, proper concept papers should have gone out so that the PCB could have been prepared.

"India is taking control and just claiming they will host all matches, it's totally unacceptable," he said
