India's medal dream ends in tears
New Delhi, Aug 23: India's dream of earning a medal in the Boys' Youth World Championship came to a halt after they failed to qualify for the semi-finals, following a 3-0 loss against Brazil in their last pool match in Mexico.
Brazil easily outplayed India in straight sets 25-22, 25-23, 25-13 in a Pool E encounter that lasted just 70 minutes.
Despite their triumph against the Indians, who had surprised everybody by their impressive perfomance in the championship, the South American champion failed to qualify for the semi-finals as they could not book second place of the group due to ratio difference win Iran.
With this loss, India recorded their second defeat of the tournament.
India earlier, registered their first defeat against another South American team, Argentina.
Argentina, France, Iran and China are the surprise semi-finalist in this year's championship.
In Saurday's semi-finals, the South American side will play China and France will be up against Asian Champions Iran.
Meanwhile, India, Brazil, Poland and Belgium will fight with each other for 5-8 positions.
