Indo-Pak Friendship Cup snooker series in February

By Staff

Lahore, Dec 6: Delhi has been chosen as the venue for the fourth edition of the Friendship Cup snooker Test series between Pakistan and India, to be held in February, confirmed President of Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) Ali Asghar Valika.

The event, scheduled to be held at the Siri Fort Sports Complex in New Delhi from December 2 to 6, was recently cancelled for the third time with the mutual agreement of the Billiards and Snookers federation from the two countries.

''The hosts, the Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI), were of the opinion that since the situation was not conducive to hold the event as per the schedule, it would be a good idea to stage the series in February,'' the PBSA President said.

Talking to 'The News' he said that the dates of the next year's National Snooker Championship, also to be held in February, would be decided after the confirmation of the Indian series.

The 4th Indo-Pak Snooker Test series was earlier postponed by a couple of days to allow the cueists some rest after the IBSF World Snooker Championship in Thailand.

The series was initially postponed, due to the massive earthquake that rocked the region in 2005 and later could not be held due to a series of bomb blasts in Mumbai.

Thereafter, non-availability of players due to the Doha Asian Games and other international engagements prevented its staging.
