Inzy blames lack of security for Woolmer's death

Lahore, Apr 10 (UNI) Pakistan World Cup captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has cliamed that lack of security led to coach Bob Woolmer's death and such a tragic death would have led to cancellation of the cricket World Cup, if the tournament had been played anywhere else in the world other than the Caribbean.

Woolmer was killed in Jamaica on March 18 but the ICC opted to continue with the showpiece event, despite the police treating the death as murder.

Inzamam, who stepped down from his job after the tragedy and Pakistan's early exit from the tournament, also lambasted Pakistan Cricket Board for doing nothing for the players in the aftermath of Woolmer's mysterious death.

''If this terrible tragedy had occurred in any other country; if such a security lapse had taken place anywhere else they would have stopped the World Cup,' he told Geo TV.

''The seven days we spent after Woolmer's death were the most tense of our lives. And we (the team) were surprised the board didn't rush someone out immediately to assist us,'' he added.
