Inzy wins toss, elects to field
Kingston, Jamaica, Mar 13 (UNI) Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq won the toss and elected to field against the West indies in the World Cup opener at Sabina Park here today.
''We'll bowl first as a 9.30am (local time) start will mean a juicy track,'' Inzamam said, after calling the coin correctly.
His counterpart Brian Lara said the first hour could be testing time for his batsmen until the moisture goes off.
The hosts sprang a surprise by leaving out Ian Bradshaw, with batsmen Lendl Simmons and Devon Smith, and young Kieron Pollard also missing out.
Pakistan omitted Mohammad Sami, Azhar Mahmood and Yasir Arafat in the playing XI, while Shahid Afridi is banned.
