IShowSpeed Could Be Middleweight Fighter With His Build, says ONE World Champion Oumar Kane

When worlds collide, the results can be unexpectedly entertaining. Reigning ONE Heavyweight MMA World Champion "Reug Reug" Oumar Kane hosted internet sensation IShowSpeed in Dakar, Senegal, this January, treating the famous streamer to a crash course in traditional Senegalese wrestling during his African tour.

The 33-year-old national hero welcomed the 21-year-old content creator, who commands over 50 million followers across social media platforms as one of the world's most recognized online personalities.

IShowSpeed can be a World Champion?

Kane taught IShowSpeed fundamental techniques from lutte, the traditional wrestling style that made him a household name in Senegal long before his ONE Championship success.

Kane revealed he's familiar with IShowSpeed's content and understands why the streamer resonates so strongly with younger audiences. The heavyweight king appreciates the energy and humor that has made IShowSpeed one of social media's biggest stars.

"I watch his videos. He's a very funny guy. The new generation likes this type of content. He's very young - he's 21 years old. Everybody likes him, you know what I mean?" Kane said.

Standing 6 feet tall and weighing around 260 pounds, Kane has become a national icon through his dominance in both traditional wrestling and mixed martial arts. He shocked the combat sports world in late 2024 by dethroning then-undefeated three-division ruler Anatoly Malykhin to capture the heavyweight crown.

The champion admitted to being caught off guard by IShowSpeed's physical presence when they first met in January. The streamer's muscular build isn't fully apparent through camera lenses, leading Kane to reassess his initial expectations about the internet personality's athleticism.

"I was actually very surprised when I first met him, because I didn't expect him to be so big. You can't tell from videos how muscular he actually is. If Speed was an MMA fighter, he would be a middleweight. He's a big man," he explained.

Kane used the opportunity to showcase Senegalese wrestling's difficulty and technical complexity. He has witnessed countless visitors underestimate lutte's challenges, only to discover its demanding nature firsthand when they attempt it themselves.

"I just wanted to teach him Senegalese wrestling, you know? It's the hardest wrestling to learn. Many people come to Senegal thinking they are good wrestlers. And then they'll try out lutte, and they are surprised," Kane stated.
