Ganemat Sekhon reached the final but finished sixth in women’s Skeet, while none of the men made it to the top six on the penultimate day of the ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Lonato, Italy.
In the 60-shot final, Ganemat was the first to be eliminated, hitting only 16 out of the first 20 targets. Rio Olympic champion Diana Bacosi won the gold with 57 hits.

The 23-year-old had earlier in the day achieved a perfect score of 25 in her fifth and final qualification round, bringing her total to 120 over five rounds. This score tied her with three others for the final three qualification spots. A shoot-off followed, and Ganemat hit the first three targets to secure the sixth spot, edging out Peru’s Daniella Borda.
The Chandigarh shooter then began the final well gunning down all four targets on the first station, along with Dania Jo Vizzi of the USA and and the champ Diana.
However, she then got seven of the first 10 and that put her back, particularly given she had qualified sixth. She missed just one of the next 10, but it was not enough to help her progress further.
In the women’s Skeet, Maheshwari Chauhan scored 114 to finish in 30th place, while Raiza Dhillon scored 111, placing her in 39th. In the men’s Skeet, Sheeraz Sheikh and Anantjeet Singh Naruka both scored 120, securing the 30th and 31st positions, respectively. Mairaj Ahmad Khan finished 79th with a score of 113.
