India's Arjun Babuta on Saturday (April 19) settled for a silver medal in the men's 10m Air Rifle event after a close contest in the closing moments of the final at the ISSF World Cup 2025 in Lima, Peru.
Babuta held the lead for most parts of the final, but lost the gold medal by 0.1 points to Olympic champion Sheng Lihao from China. The 24-year-old Indian, who missed out on the podium in Paris Olympics by a whisker, finished the Lima World Cup leg final with 252.3 points.

In the closing moments, Babuta, who lost the lead in the final three shots, needed a 10.6 to draw level with Sheng, and a 10.7 to win, but he could only shoot 10.5. Lihao clinched gold medal with 252.4 points, while Hungary's István Péni won the bronze medal with 229.8 points.
Meanwhile, Buenos Aires leg gold medallist Rudrankksh Patil was disqualified after the second series of shots for shooting before the command to shoot was given by the range officials. Patil finished the final in eigth place with 104.8.
Earlier, in the women's 10m Air Rifle event, Aarya Borse finished 5th with 188.1 points in the final, which saw the Chinese shooters take all three spots on the podium. The double gold on Saturday (April 19) saw China reclaim the lead on the medal table with a total of 10 medals.
India's tally at the end of day 5 of the competition in the ISSF World Cup 2025 Lima leg stood at 5 medals to sit on third position, one behind second-placed USA. India has so far won two gold medals thanks to Suruchi Singh's double in 10m air pistol events.
Suruchi Singh continued her meteoric rise in international shooting, claiming her third gold medal in less than 10 days by teaming up with Saurabh Chaudhary to win the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event on Thursday (April 17). Here is a look at the Indian medallists followed by the medal table:
