ISSF World Cup 2025 Lima: Suruchi-Manu Make it India 1-2 in 10m Air Pistol; Saurabh Chaudhary Wins Bronze

By MyKhel Staff

Suruchi Singh and Manu Bhaker made it 1-2 finish in women's 10m air pistol event after Saurabh Chaudhary finished on the podium in the men's event on Tuesday (April 15) as India kicked off their ISSF World Cup 2025 campaign in Lima with medals of all three colours on the opening day.

After shooting gold in the Buenos Aires leg last week, rising star Suruchi fended off a late fight from compatriot and double Olympic medallist Manu to win her second successive gold in the ISSF World Cup.

The 18-year-old Suruchi Singh clinched gold in Lima with a stunning score of 243.6 in the final, edging past fellow Indian and star shooter Manu Bhaker, who secured silver with a total of 242.3 points. China's Yao Qianxun, who had finished fourth at the Buenos Aires World Cup, took the bronze with 219.5 points.

In the qualification round, Suruchi finished second with a score of 582, while Manu closely followed in fourth with 578. However, their compatriot Sainyam narrowly missed the eight-shooter final, finishing 11th with 571.

Earlier in the day, Saurabh Chaudhary, who last week marked his return with a bronze in mixed team event with Suruchi, added India's first medal in the Lima leg of the ISSF World Cup 2025 by clinching bronze in Men's 10m Air Pistol.

The 2018 Asian Games gold medallist, who had a disappointing 16th place finish last week, won the copper metal in Lima after an intra-family duel against his nephew Varun Tomar. A late surge saw Saurabh claim bronze with 219.1 as Varun finished fourth with 198.1, improving on his fifth-place finish at the Buenos Aires World Cup.

China's Hu Kai finished top of the podium with a commanding 246.4 points, which secured his second consecutive World Cup gold. Brazil's Felipe Almeida Wu, the 2016 Rio Olympics silver medallist, earned silver with 241.0.

In the qualification round dominated by shooters in the RPO status, Saurabh finished fifth with 578 points, while Tomar finished 8th with 576. Their compatriot Ravinder Singh narrowly missed the final with 574 and a ninth place finish in the qualification stage.

With a strong opening day, India finished top of the medal tally with 3 medals - one each of all colours, while China sat second with a gold and bronze followed by Brazil, who won the solitary silver.
