Ja Morant made a strong comeback, scoring 22 points as the Memphis Grizzlies triumphed over the Portland Trail Blazers. His return was marked by a seamless collaboration with teammates Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane. After being sidelined for three weeks due to hip and pelvic injuries, Morant quickly regained form on Monday.
In the first half alone, Morant scored 20 of his 22 points, helping Memphis secure a 123-98 win at FedExForum. This performance highlighted his importance to the team. In his nine games this season, he is averaging 20.8 points, 9.3 assists, and five rebounds. The Grizzlies now hold an 11-7 record.

During Morant's absence, Memphis managed a respectable 5-3 record across eight games. Reflecting on his performance, Morant expressed satisfaction: "It felt good. It felt like I played good. Looked good." He emphasised his focus on maintaining rhythm during his return process.
Morant's playmaking skills were evident with two impressive assists: an alley-oop to Jackson and a behind-the-back pass to Brandon Clarke. These plays earned him standing ovations from the crowd at FedExForum. Santi Aldama praised the synergy among the team's key players.
"When we've got the big three, it's different," said reserve forward Aldama. "It's also easier to play that way. We're talking about Ja. Just having him back, just the energy, the gravity, it's completely different."
The Grizzlies missed the playoffs last year for the first time since Morant's rookie season but are hopeful of building chemistry with their star trio back in action.
The Grizzlies are optimistic about their prospects with Morant's return boosting team morale and performance levels significantly.
