Lahore, Jun 18 (UNI) Critisicing the sports ministry's decision to dismiss former secretary Khalid Mahmood without his approval, PHF president Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has rubbished rumours that he is resigning from his post.
''I will not resign from the PHF presidency,'' Jamali told told mediapersons at Islamabad yesterday.
''I had met the prime minister some two months ago and he had given me the green signal to continue,'' he added.
Jamali further informed that he will prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, who is also the Patron-in-Chief of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), to raise the issue of Khalid Mahmood's sacking.
Sports Minister Najimuddin Khan had removed Khalid Mahmood as PHF secretary on Monday, sparking a row between the PHF and the federal ministry.
Former Olympian Asif Bajwa has been appointed as PHF honorary secretary on an ad hoc basis till further orders.
